Accounts Receivable & Payables Specialist

M-F, 8a-5p, Onsite

$24-$26 hr

Contract to Hire/90 days

Looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable & Payable Specialist who enjoys working on both sides of the accounting process. This is a hands-on role that combines managing vendor invoices and payments with maintaining customer accounts and following up on outstanding balances to keep collections on track. If you like variety, staying organized, working with both customers and vendors, and solving problems before they become bigger issues, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions.
  • Enter and maintain vendor invoices and customer payments.
  • Contact customers regarding past-due balances and collections.
  • Maintain accurate customer and vendor account information.
  • Research and resolve billing or payment discrepancies.
  • Maintain basic Excel spreadsheets and accounting records.
  • Work with the accounting team to ensure invoices and payments are processed accurately and on time.
  • Assist with additional accounting responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in A/R, A/P, collections, bookkeeping, or accounting support.
  • Experience with phone collections and discussing outstanding balances with customers.
  • Experience using QuickBooks, Sage, or similar accounting software preferred. Training will be provided on the company's system.
  • Basic Microsoft Excel skills, including maintaining spreadsheets and data entry.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable working independently as well as with a team.
  • Industrial, wholesale, or equipment industry experience is a plus.
  • Able to work OT hours during peak times

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree preferred, but not required.
